Zero Conditional

The zero conditional is also called the present real conditional.  

This is because it is used in the present.

STRUCTURE

If   +   Present Simple,   +  Present Simple

• If you heat ice, It melts.
  

Present Simple   +   If    +    Present Simple

• Ice melts If you heat it.
  

Examples:

• If you want to be healthy, you need to eat properly
  
• If you earn more money, you pay higher taxes.
  

USES Rules

Rules use the zero conditional to show they are always true no matter what the time is.

 Examples:

• You must not smoke if you are inside the office.
  
• You must not use a cell phone when you drive a car.
